But both may sit under the broader sales-based financing umbrella, and neither becomes low-risk because of its name. The decision belongs in the payment schedule, total cost, revenue-adjustment language, lien position, guarantees, and payoff terms.
Qualified Commercial's RBF program is designed to improve two terms that commonly create MCA pressure: payment cadence and repayment runway. Payments are weekly or bi-weekly rather than daily, and qualified structures may run 12–14 months, with longer terms considered case by case for highly qualified businesses. That can be meaningfully easier to carry than a short MCA, but it remains higher-cost short-term commercial financing and must be disclosed accurately to future lenders.

Cash-flow assumptions: after operating expenses and before financing, $3,000 remains in a normal week and $2,000 in a slow week. Other obligations continue at $400 weekly during both tests. Subtract that $400 and the new payment. Then review each debt's full schedule and daily balances; this weekly illustration does not predict liquidity over the entire term.
Unfavorable result: B lowers the weekly payment by $1,200 but requires $15,600 more total payments for the same net cash. A leaves a shortfall even in the normal week; both fail the slow-week test. Do not choose either from this table alone: revise the amount, use, schedule or source and reassess cash flow.
Payments minus net cash already includes the withheld fee's effect; do not add it again. If there are payoffs, separate old-debt repayment from new financing cost. Do not turn a factor into an annual rate by dividing it by months; request the applicable disclosure and its assumptions.
Ask for the exact clause, formula, evidence, submission channel, response period and date the debit changes. Confirm what remains payable while a request is pending and whether a retroactive refund applies. Do not reduce or stop debits based on assumed permission.
Request a written payoff for a specific date, its expiration and which charges are reduced or remain due. Confirm the final transfer, debit cancellation and lien-release evidence. An advertised factor does not by itself establish prepayment savings.
Distinguish a draw available under the agreement from a new approval. Ask for fresh cash after the old balance is paid, new fees, new total payback and whether the schedule restarts. Do not rely on a future renewal to repay this obligation.
Include continuing loan, line and MCA payments. Supply agreements, payoffs and liens; confirm consent and priority where required. This program considers first or second position, never third, and does not authorize undisclosed stacking.

For this RBF route, published screens are five operating years, $1M verified average monthly deposits across six months and guarantor FICO 650. Open bankruptcy, an outstanding confession of judgment and funding recurring operating losses are excluded. A bad-credit business-loan search does not remove these screens. Do not plan around hiding the obligation. A future bank or lender can review the debt schedule, business bank withdrawals, UCC filings, credit inquiries, financial statements, and payoff requests. Describe the transaction exactly as the agreement does and disclose every obligation when asked. The legitimate advantage is a structure the account can service—not a label that avoids review.
It is a comparison of specific offers, not a universal claim. Moving from a 6–7 month repayment window to a 12–14 month window is roughly twice the time. If total repayment were identical, the scheduled weekly equivalent would be roughly half. Real pricing may differ, so compare both total dollars and cash remaining after each payment.

No. In our hypothetical equal-net-cash example, Offer B collects $1,800 weekly instead of $3,000 but requires $93,600 instead of $78,000 in total payments. It costs $15,600 more for the same $60,000 net cash, and both offers still leave a slow-week shortfall. These are illustrations, not quotes.
No. Confirm whether the agreement provides an available draw or requires a new application and approval. Compare fresh cash after any payoff, new fees, total payback and the new schedule. A future renewal is not a reliable plan for repaying the current obligation.
The terms overlap. The CFPB describes merchant cash advances as a primary product within the broader sales-based financing category. Providers may use RBF for structures with different cadence, term, reconciliation, or underwriting. The contract—not the marketing label—determines the obligations.
It can be easier on cash flow when it provides a longer term, less frequent payments, clear reconciliation, and no stacking. It can still be expensive and can still contain strong default, guaranty, lien, or debit-control provisions. Safer is a conclusion reached after reading the offer.
